Where?

Located in San Tan Valley,  my home studio is just a few miles east of the Town of Queen Creek and convenient to the east valley including Gilbert, Mesa, Tempe, Chandler, Florence, Anthem, Casa Grande and Scottsdale.

Who?

I am a  freelance photographer, writer and designer and Lilypoo is the culmination of years of work in those areas.  My studio sessions are fresh, fun and relaxed; my style is modern-classic.  I pride myself on the fact that my studio is a stress-free zone!  I offer unique and unusual studio session offerings, like my popular CAKE SMASH! sessions for little ones.  I specialize in kids and furry friends.

Why?

When I photograph your precious child or beloved companion animal, I prefer to consider the opportunity a “portrait study” rather than simply a photo session or photo shoot.  To me, a portrait study is a complete study of the subject’s personality and expressions…not just a documentation of perfect poses and smiles. :)

What?

My work includes freelance photography, writing, design and blog/ecommerce configuration and customization. Lilypoo also is home to my small online boutique, where I brings clients and photographers alike interesting and unique props, accessories and costumes.  I also home school my four (amazing) children and I write about home schooling and frugality for several local online publications.  I writes about married life, homemaking and family life at my blog, Domestic Madness.

What’s in my camera bag and studio?

I like to follow the KISS philosophy when it comes to my gear.  But it’s taken me more than five years to settle on what I like and how I like to shoot.

I have two Canon 60D camera bodies, and my trusty old Rebel XSi.  My lens line-up includes the Canon 24-105mm f/4L IS, the Sigma 50mm f/2.8 Macro and the Sigma 17-50mm f/2.8 OS.  I’m currently in lens shopping mode…but I am having trouble deciding on what I want next!! :)

I use a combination of Alien Bees and Flashpoint II studio strobes and Alien Bees’ wireless triggering system.  I have way too many umbrellas and accessories, but I love trying new things!  I have a collection of seamless paper, vinyl, cloth and other back drops as well as a handful of chairs, posing props (many homemade) and accessories (and costumes).  I am a HUGE fan of spraypaint and nothing I find is safe from being painted and turned into a prop. :)  I rotate my backdrop and prop stash regularly, so what you see in my portfolio may not be something I still have.  But I assure you, I’ve probably got something even better!! :)
